We’re a home based bakery operating in accordance with the Michigan Cottage Food Law.

Do you know what’s in your food?

I founded this little bakery with that question in mind and set out to create desserts as “healthy” as I could. I love cake so much I could eat a whole one in one sitting, or at least two or three boxes of those little snack cakes. But I’m not 12 anymore and I can’t eat like that anymore, on top of an autoimmune disease that means my diet has to cut out a loooot of junk to stay semi-healthy. Unfortunately store bought sweets have so many additives I couldn’t find anything “natural”, and what I did find I wouldn’t buy again (bleh). Logically I came to the conclusion I just need to make a “healthier” cake.

We try to source organically grown, renewable/sustainably harvested ingredients, especially locally produced, along with growing as much ourselves as we possibly can! In addition, we try to keep everything as artificial free as possible, utilizing natural fruit/vegetable food colorings and naturally derived extracts/oils unless otherwise noted!

Hello!

FAQ

  • Nope! As a cottage bakery, we operate out of our home kitchen in accordance with the Michigan Cottage Food Law. Our kitchen is inaccessible to our pets and all consumer ingredients/goods are stored in separate shelves/fridge/freezer.
Our desserts are baked fresh within 48 hours of ordering and can be picked up locally or delivered to your home! We may also occasionally vend at craft shows and will post when we are!

  • We keep a clean kitchen and sanitize thoroughly before/after everything we make in addition to storing our gluten free flours and any nut ingredient in airtight bins away from other ingredients as an extra precaution. While all ingredients are listed, any “Big 9” allergen is in bold and on a separate line as well (eggs, milk, fish/shellfish, tree nuts/peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame)

While we do our best, this is not a gluten free or common allergen free kitchen and I CANNOT guarantee there is no cross contamination.

If you have other allergen concerns and are wondering if we can substitute ingredients, just give us an email!

  • Michigan Cottage Food law has specifications for what food can/cannot be produced and sold from home bakeries, mostly involving temperature controlled foods. We follow the law which is why you won’t see certain things for sale (Cheesecakes, cream cheese frostings, whipped creams, meats in bread, etc.)

  • We have a roughly 5 mile radius for delivery (free if you’re over a $25 order), and a few further zipcodes that are available on specific weekdays otherwise you’re out of range and more than welcome to pickup your order in person.

  • Healthy is a bit subjective I know, and I’m definitely not saying a sugary cake is necessarily “good” for you. We’re doing stuff like using beet powder instead of red 40, using produce that’s organically and locally grown (when possible) for sustainability, using naturally derived flavors instead of synthetic, avoiding preservatives that can cause adverse health effects, and just trying to avoid artificial ingredients whenever we can.
